BIOGRAPHY OF THE SITTING NAYIRI- NAA BOHUGU MAHAMI ABDULAI SHERIGA, OVERLORD OF MAMPRUGU TRADITIONAL KINGDOM.

Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga was the biological Son of Naa Sheriga Abdulai Mahami. He was born around 1933 in Sakogu. His mother: Paawagni Sheriga was the 6th wife of the king, and Naa Bohugu primary occupation was farming.

He occasionally engaged himself in hunting as a hobby. After the demise of his late father- Naa Sheriga in 1966 and the subsequent selection of a new Nayiri- The late Naa Bongu Adam Badimsugru, he accompanied his Senior brother, late Kpanaba Nantomah Sheriga to kparigu for settlement.

Around 1983 he was enskinned as Chief of Gbangdaa- a konkomba community closed to Dagbon. Gbandaa Rana succeeded his late brother, Late Zarana Nantomah Baani as the the then Zadana on January 2001.

After a brief stay in Zaari, the then Nayiri- Late Naa Gamni Abdulai Mahamadu Soroo passed on. After a heavily competitive competition, Zadana Mahami Abdulai Sheriga was selected by the seven (7) Man kingmakers of Mamprugu and finally enskinned the Nayiri on 24th January, 2004. 

Soon after the outdooring ceremony, the new king came out with a title: Naa BOHUGU

"BOHUGU" referred as the Gentle and harmless python.

His motteis : Peace for Development.

He is currently the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Kingdom and the Vice President of the Northern Region House of Chiefs .
