 This footage was recorded on 7th November 1968 when Brigadier Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa of NLC attended the traditional funeral rites of late Yaa Naa Abdulai III (Ŋmarogɔŋ), that is grandfather of Mionlana Abdulai Mahamadu, in Yendi.




He was welcomed at the Yendi Airport by the District Superintendent of Police, Mr. Ashong. There were Adowa Dancers Group from Mampong-Ashanti, birthplace of the Brigadier, and Dagbaŋ Dancers Group from Yendi. 





Brigadier Afrifa revealed on arrival that the deceased Yaa Naa, Naa Abdulai III, had 'adopted' him as his grandson when he toured the Northern Region the previous year. Brigadier Afrifa met with Naa Mahamadu Abdulai, then Regent of Dagbaŋ. 


His visit reinforced the friendly relationship between Dagbaŋ and Ashanti.
